We all have that someone who has crossed our path and has stuck on our heart. For a few heartbeats, we happen to pause and can’t help but remember that feeling. The following free verse is the translation of that very heartbeat of mine.

whether

our lips

meet

or

our bodies

one on one

your legs

wrapped

around my waist

powerful

just as the sun

at noon

scorching,

burning

almost inscribing

every presence

of you

crawling deeper

inside

my skin

crumbling

as it touches

yours

giving birth

to sinkholes

that now

just look like craters

of what

we once were

every time

your body

was against mine

my knees

weak

and

I wonder

if it was meant to be?

we just passed

like shooting stars

falling

for someone’s dream

maybe

are only
